The new version is called "Avaya Unified Communications All Inclusive" and combines voice and video telephony software and unified communications applications in a single package.
The Unified Communications All Inclusive package includes Avaya Communication Manager 5.0 IP Telephony software, which leverages session initiation protocol (SIP); Avaya’s next-generation softphone, Avaya one-X Communicator, which supports both H.323 and SIP audio and video, and provides access to all communications media in a single interface. The UC All Inclusive package also comes equipped with Avaya one-X Portal that delivers Web-based telephony, messaging, contacts and conferencing via public or private Windows, Mac and or Linux-based computer. Additional applications include Avaya one-X Mobile; Avaya Extension-to-Cellular; Avaya VPNremote software; Avaya Intelligent Presence; and more.
"This package model allows enterprises to equip virtually any employee with the particular voice and video telephony, desktop and mobility tools that he or she needs at a very reasonable cost," said Nora Freedman, senior analyst for Unified Communications Infrastructure at IDC.
With this latest offering from Avaya, business users can work from anywhere with single number access and identity and users can shift between communications modes and applications.
The single number access feature allows callers to dial a single number to reach users regardless of location or device. Officials said that with single number identity, the call receiver only sees the business number of the user in spite of the call made from a mobile device, PC, home, hotel, or any other phone. At present, the Unified Communications All Inclusive package is available in North America and EMEA and the company said it plans to announce its global availability by January 2009.
Avaya also announced the next version of its Avaya one-X Mobile is now available worldwide. This updated version supports multiple languages, including French, German, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
