Selected by Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. to provide a converged Avaya and Extreme Networks VoIP solution

Anaheim, CA - Nov 2, 2005 - Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading data communications and telecommunication technology company, has selected Altura Communication Solutions to provide and implement a converged communication network with Avaya's Internet Protocol (IP) telephony, software applications and Extreme Networks layer 3 switches.

The Avaya Voice over IP (VoIP) system at Multi-Tech Systems' world headquarters includes Avaya Communication Manager S8500, Spectralink Wireless IP Phones, IP Office conferencing, VoIP Trunks to France and the United Kingdom, IP Phones, Avaya BCMS, VuStats, and Extreme Networks Summit 300's and 400's switches.

"Our previous phone system performed extremely well for almost two decades since its installation in 1989," said Gene Schweiss, Vice President of Finance at Multi-Tech Systems. "But we were ready for some of the advanced features available with IP telephony such as wireless phones, PC integration and unified messaging. We also needed the same exceptional service we had been used to with our previous system. Through considerable research and reference checking, we selected Altura, which is well known for their high quality customer support. The implementation went extremely well".

Multi-Tech Systems' converged network is being implemented in phases. Phase 1 consists of replacing their current PBX with Avaya IP system and adding Extreme Networks data switches to a completely new parallel network. Phase 2 will incorporate voice and data applications into the new local area network. The network solution includes implementing IP Office conferencing and wireless telephones. "We have been using a service bureau for the last three years for audio conferencing," said Tim Ridley, IT Supervisor of Multi-Tech Systems. "We believe that by bringing audio conferencing in house, our return on investment will be about one to two years."

"Multi-Tech Systems' IP solution was a very complex implementation including IP and analog phones, together with wireless phones, conferencing, contact center and data infrastructure switching," said Bob Blazek, CEO and President of Altura Communication Solutions. "Avaya and Extreme Networks provide a very powerful converged solution offering in the market place. Altura provides a single point of contact for implementation, service and support of the converged solution
